Sound In Silence is very pleased to welcome North Atlantic Drift with their new album Monuments.

North Atlantic Drift is the duo of Mike Abercrombie and Brad Deschamps.

Prior to meeting in the summer of 2011, Mike was making electronic music as Transits of Mercury, while Brad was playing in the now disbanded post-rock band Epigram. After several discussions about the music of Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, Erik Satie, and Stars of the Lid, the duo set up a studio in downtown Toronto, Ontario to work on material that would become their debut album Canvas, released in March 2012 on Polar Seas Recordings. At that time, they also released on the same label Scholars Of Time Travel, a one long track ambient EP.

North Atlantic Drift attempts to mix an ambient sound with elements of electronic, rock and drone. This unique blend of genres makes extensive use of sampling, found sounds, odd percussion instruments and an unorthodox, experimental recording process.

Monuments is North Atlantic Drift’s second full-length album and first for Sound In Silence. It has been mastered by James Plotkin and sounds a little more spacious and maybe not quite as tense as Canvas.
Each track of Monuments is built up nicely on guitar or synthesizer loops with added samples, glockenspiel and processed percussion sounds from various sources.
This results in a wonderful album, presenting a warm melodic sound which brings to mind some of the best moments of Hammock, Helios and Slow Dancing Society.

This is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies, packaged in a lovely hand-stamped grey cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper.
