about

Sound In Silence proudly presents Stafrænn Hákon with his new album Prammi, almost three years since his latest album which was released in early 2010.

Stafrænn Hákon, the moniker of the multi-instrumentalist Olafur Josephsson, is one of the leading artists of Iceland's alternative music scene.
Over the years, his music has been described as a mix of post-rock, ambient, lo-fi and electronica which still holds true to some extent, though with each album he takes a giant leap and keeps growing as a musician.
Since 1999 he has released his music on labels such as Darla, Kimi Records, Resonant, Awkward Silence Recordings, Chat Blanc Records, Nature Bliss, Happy Prince, Secret Eye Records and his own Vogor Recordings.
He also has three side-projects, Calder, Per:Segulsvið and Náttfari, and has collaborated over the years with many artists like Efterklang, Greg Haines, Blindfold, Ampop, Dialect, Absent Without Leave and others too.

The very much anticipated Prammi is his first release on Sound In Silence, although he has already appeared in an older release of the label two years back, collaborating with Absent Without Leave on the latter’s latest album Faded Photographs.

On Prammi, his 7th full length album, Stafrænn Hákon combines both the sound of his earliest and latest releases, something that will satisfy both his older and newer fans.
Combining in a perfect way the soothing melodies, subtle atmospheric drones and delicate soundscapes of his earliest albums, with the mostly upbeat, rock orientated compositions with popular references and heavy guitars of his two latest albums, he creates thirteen emotional, relaxing but at the same time dynamic and intense tracks, using layers of many different instruments such as electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, synths, samples, cello, bells, banjo, trombone and others.

This is a limited edition of 300 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies, packaged in a lovely hand-stamped blue recycled cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on glossy photo paper and two inserts, with the tracklist and credits, printed on nice fabric paper.

note: The first edition of 300 copies is now sold out so this is a second edition of 200 more copies.
