Sound In Silence is proud to welcome bvdub to its family, presenting his new album Yours Are Stories Of Sadness.

bvdub is the solo project of Brock Van Wey, based in San Francisco, California. During the last decade his music, ranging from ambient to deep techno, has received critical acclaim from many magazines, webzines, blogs and radio shows worldwide and he is now considered one of the most interesting electronic music composers of nowadays. He has released tens of albums and EPs on labels such as Darla, n5MD, Home Normal, AY, Glacial Movements Records, Distant Noise Records, his own Quietus Recordings and many others, while he has also released music under his real name and the aliases of Earth House Hold and East Of Oceans.

Yours Are Stories Of Sadness differs from the earlier bvdub releases, comprising nineteen shorter instrumental tracks, each around three or four minutes long, rather than his usual long-form emotional themes. Each track depicts a time in which he remembered the moment of a true story that took place in 2012. This different approach is so refreshing and inspiring that finally makes the album one of his best to date. All the elements of his signature bvdub sound are still here and with a wall of deep chords of beautifully lush tones, sentimental melodies & melancholic drones he manages to create an absolute ambient masterpiece. Yours Are Stories Of Sadness is a sublime album, soothing in all aspects.

I'll admit, I'm late to the game when it comes to bvdub. I have lots of friends who have told of his brilliance over the years. I equate it to a similar thing I went through with Rafael Anton Irisarri. My brain overwhelmed with the various copycats in their respective genre, sort of overlooked the whole thing. Finally, the stars have aligned, I now realize they are the masters of their field. The precision, patience, and subtle detail involved is in a league all its own. I'm sold Lost Tribe Sound

This is a spellbinding piece of work. Huge sound that envelopes you and creates a feeling of pure emotion that sweeps you along. I listened to the cd on my way to work in one go which I think is the way to digest this properly. I can hear many influences but for me the album brought to mind Seefeel and late electronic period Cocteau Twins, most notably Feet Like Fins and Seekers Who Are Lovers which are two of my favourite tracks by them. Packaging is a labour of love too.🙏 andrew noakes
